Earlier this year, we asked customers to complete a wellbeing survey to help us to understand your wellbeing, personal and community needs.

In response to all that our customers told us, we have worked in our communities to prioritise social and support activities across a wide range of areas. See the sections below to find out more about projects going on in your area. 

Nationwide

Click and Chatter Facebook Page aims to connect residents. We really hope that friendships are formed through this group.

Digital Inclusion Coordinator

 

If you need some help to get online or use the internet, please contact our Digital Inclusion Coordinator.  We can help with online tasks, access to training (no prior knowledge needed) and in some cases can help you to access devices and data. Skills and Employability Co-Ordinator

 

Your Skills and Employability Coordinator is here to offer free one to one advice and support to help you to access training , work, work experience or volunteering.  We have many links with training providers and employers.   Email socialvalue@placesforpeople.co.uk

 

Wellbeing Co-ordinator

 

Our wellbeing co-ordinator can help you with practical advice and access to activities or programmes of support to meet your individual needs for example social or sports activities, or activities and projects to help you to manage your mental health and wellbeing.

We can keep in touch for an agreed period of time to ensure you make good progress against your individual goals. Contact wellbeingmatters@placesforpeople.co.uk to arrange an initial chat.

Befriending Service (run by Shape Linc Line)

 

Our National Befriending Service provides weekly telephone calls to customers.  Often it’s just good to have a regular friendly chat but the Shape Link Line volunteers can also help you to find support on a range of practical or wellbeing issues if needed. Live Online Training Courses

 

These courses are run for us by WEA. Courses run on Canvas, an online platform that provides you with information, course materials and support. Each session on Canvas is tutor led and live, so you can interact with tutors and everyone else in the group during the sessions.

Tutor led courses cover all sorts of topics such as digital skills, crafts, mental health awareness and budgeting.   Sessions and are regularly updated with more options. English, Maths & Digital Qualifications

 

Our partners WEA offer free courses at a variety of levels in English, Maths and Digital including qualifications that are delivered through an online Zoom classroom enabling you to study for a functional skills qualification with full tutor support in the comfort of your own home.  You may need to talk to a member of staff and do an initial assessment to make sure the course is right for you.

Beginners 1:1 Digital Support

 

We have contracted ‘We are Digital’ to offer support for people who are new to getting online. This could be help with setting up a digital device and email address, or how to navigate the internet and build confidence to be independent online. All support is on a 1 to 1 basis, absolute beginners are welcome to sign up. In some cases, we can help with access to equipment.

Places Online Learning

 

Online learning designed by Places for People to help with subjects such as, Budgeting and Personal Money Management, Noise Matters (which looks at what is “nuisance noise”) and Mental Health and Wellbeing.  Email skillsemployment@placesforpeople.co.uk.

Are you looking to get the right career qualifications?  Working with The Skills Network and other partners, we are able to offer Level 1 & 2 qualifications across a range of areas. Are you 15-24 and out of work?  If you’re not in education, employment or training, we can help.  It can feel stressful, confusing and overwhelming trying to get a job or continue your education.  Sometimes you just don’t know where to start.  Based on your individual interests, we can help you gain new skills to boost your confidence and find your direction.  We can help you to sort out the practicalities like finances and access to benefits.  When you are ready, we can help you develop and write a CV, then show you how to navigate the jobs market and training options.  We will help you to prepare for interviews and even make sure you have suitable clothing and shoes.

Over 50?  Sometimes losing your job can lead to a loss in motivation and feelings of isolation.  We can provide practical support to help you move forward.  Together we can make a plan tailored to your situation, first tackling barriers such as finances and wellbeing.  Then we can refresh your CV, focusing on your experience and transferable skills.  We can help you find suitable courses if you’d like to update your skills or train for something new.  Or we can help you find a volunteering role to build your confidence by helping others.  When you’re ready to return to work, we can help you search for jobs and apply on line.  We’ll help with practice interviews too, so that you know what to expect.

Chorley Youth Zone, named by young people as ‘Inspire’, is a purpose-built facility for the borough’s young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities. Norfolk Women's FA

 

The project is for women and girls within the local West Norwich community, with sessions being suitable for beginners as well as players with some previous footballing experience. The project will run as a 16-week programme with the potential to continue after for a small fee per session. Still on the Go - Norfolk

 

Support for older people to get active and maintain active lifestyles. We are working alongside leisure centres to offer free access to group sessions at: Riverside Leisure Centre, Norwich; Victory Leisure Centre, North Walsham; Wymondham Leisure Centre; Long Stratton Leisure Centre and Diss Leisure Centre

The sessions vary across the leisure centres, they include Swimming, Aqua Jog (Norwich only), Aqua fit (Diss and North Walsham), Dance based exercise sessions, Strength and conditioning Circuit sessions circuits and Aerobics.  They are all free to participants. These will take into consideration any physical health concerns and the instructors are able to modify the session to suit individuals abilities.

We Are Digital working in partnership with South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) to provide FREE basic digital skills to help people get back into work. This includes kit, connectivity and training to all individuals for whom this is a barrier to employment or training.
