The Club was first opened by legendary trainer Brian Hughes MBE and today is owned and run by ex-WBU Light-middleweight Champion Thomas McDonagh who himself was mentored and trained by Brian at the gym since the age of eight.
They have recently launched a programme which aims to engage young people aged 16-25 who are currently NEET and provide a pathway for them into volunteering and/or employment in Sport. Through the Sport of Boxing, we will offer a programme of activity that includes 121 mentoring aimed at nurturing and empowering. The programme will build confidence, self-esteem and develop social and ethical intelligence to help support aspirations and ambitions.
