- Housing Law and Regulation - This unit provides an understanding of the legal and regulatory system underpinning the delivery of housing services. It explores key landlord and tenant legislation, including equality and diversity requirements, and how the law must be applied in practice.
- Housing Policy - This unit provides an understanding of the history of housing policy, who is involved in policy-making, and how policies are influenced and developed.
- Customer Focus in Housing - This unit provides an understanding of the importance of good customer service and meeting the needs of a diverse range of housing customers, including those experiencing vulnerability.
- Professionalism in Housing - This unit provides an opportunity to reflect on what professionalism means in a housing context, including the key skills and behaviours that housing professionals must demonstrate.
- Housing Management - This unit provides an overview of the wide range of housing activities carried out by landlords. It covers both the contractual elements of managing a tenancy and broader social goals including tenancy support, health, and well-being.
- Housing Need, Demand, and Supply - This unit provides knowledge of national and local demographics and how they impact housing need, demand, and supply. Learners will also examine a range of factors influencing local housing strategies.
- Senior Housing Manager - This role involves managing the direct delivery of housing management services to tenants
Level 4 Housing Qualification
Level 4 qualifications are designed to explore the contextual and specialised knowledge for the housing professional in greater depth. On completion of a qualification at this level, you can become a certified practitioner member of CIH.
Who's it for?: This qualification is designed for learners who:
- Are in or aspiring to a supervisory or management role in housing
- May already have a level 3 qualification, or a qualification in housing
- And/or experience of working in housing or a related sector, preferably at a supervisory/management level
Delivery Model: A blended learning approach with a mixture of face-to-face, online learning, and self-led learning.
Cost: £1,600 per learner (includes learner CIH registration fee).

Learning Time & Assessment Methods
This 12-month course comprises:
- 8 face-to-face / online one-day workshops
- 10 online professional discussions
- 10 directed activities, such as data analysis, research, and reading
- 8 assignments
- Access to additional self-led learning.
It may be possible to reduce the time to complete depending upon recognition of prior learning and learner capability and capacity.
Assessment Methods include:
- A variety of methods, including tasks, portfolios, assignments, and professional discussions.
