Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager​

Duration: 18-24 months​

Venue: PfP Thrive Academy, Derby​

Who it's for: This apprenticeship is aimed at mid-level managers, senior managers, and departmental heads. It focuses on developing leadership styles, establishing strategies, understanding business finance, and delivering results. Participants will emerge as critical thinkers prepared to tackle business hurdles effectively.​

How it works

Your learner can join a mixed-group cohort and attend the eight modular workshops (varying between one and two days each per month) at our Learning Suite at the Thrive Academy in Derby. Here they will have the opportunity to network with other Team Leaders and Managers, learning about best practice, real-world application and connections.​

Alternatively, if you have your own cohort of learners (minimum group size of 10), we can work with you to deliver a bespoke in-house programme at our Learning Suite or your own premises.​

We facilitate a series of free 'Power Hour' virtual webinars that any learner can join throughout the programme.​

Each learner will have up to 15 virtual 121s with one of our skills coaches, further enhanced with quarterly progress meetings with their manager or mentor.

Apprentices will also be required to complete some on-the-job learning.

This job learning could include:​

  • 121s with their manager and/or mentor ​
  • Observation, feedback and coaching of them completing activities ​
  • Running a work-based project that provides a return on investment to you, the employer​
What it will cover

This programme encourages learners to question existing processes, aim for efficiency, and adeptly navigate the ensuing transformations. It also focuses on building skills in stakeholder engagement, leadership, strategic planning, problem-solving, and effective project management.

The eight modular face-to-face workshops include:​

  • Introduction to operational management and personal reflection (2 separate days)​
  • Leading teams to success (over two back-to-back days)​
  • Leading in an organisational context (over two separate days)​
  • Managing stakeholder relationships (one day)​
  • Creating and delivering operational plans (one day)​
  • Managing change (one day)​
  • Managing finance (one day)​
  • Managing projects to achieve results (one day)​
  • Recap and assignment support plus EPA preparation (one day)​
