Wooldridge View: A new extra care Community for New Milton
27 February 2025
We are proud to introduce Wooldridge View, our newest extra care Community in New Milton, developed in partnership with Lovell Later Living, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council, and Morgan Sindall Construction.
Designed to support independent living for people aged 55 and over, including those with care and support needs, Wooldridge View offers a safe, welcoming environment where residents can enjoy later life with the reassurance of on-site support.
A place to call home
Our bright and spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments have been thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and security, while maintaining independence. Each home features a contemporary kitchen, stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a private outdoor space—either a balcony or patio. The development also benefits from 24/7 on-site care and support for those who need it, offering peace of mind to residents and their families.
Speaking about the launch, Rachel Crownshaw, Group Managing Director – Communities at Places for People, said:
“We were thrilled to officially open Wooldridge View and celebrate with our residents and partners. This community is the latest addition to our extra care portfolio in Hampshire, reflecting our commitment to delivering high-quality homes where people can live safely, independently, and with confidence. Through collaboration, we continue to create places that enhance lives and provide reassurance to residents and their loved ones.”
Honouring local heritage
Wooldridge View has been named in honour of the late Ian Wooldridge, a celebrated sports journalist who was born in New Milton. His family attended the opening celebrations, marking the occasion with a personal connection.
His son, Max Wooldridge, reflected on the tribute:
“We particularly love the name ‘Wooldridge View’ as Dad once made a TV documentary series called The Wooldridge View – so it’s very apt. We’re all very touched by the name and thank you again.”
A connected and vibrant Community
The official opening day took place on Wednesday, 26 February, bringing together residents, local partners, and members of the Wooldridge family to celebrate the new development. Wooldridge View has been carefully designed to foster a strong sense of Community, helping residents feel connected and engaged in later life.
With a welcoming restaurant serving freshly prepared meals, a wellness suite to support health and wellbeing, and spacious communal lounges and activity areas, there are plenty of opportunities for socialising. An on-site hairdresser and barber, as well as a varied programme of social activities, further enhance the lifestyle on offer. On-site parking makes visiting effortless for friends and family, ensuring Wooldridge View is a place where people can live comfortably and confidently.
Creating places that support independent living
The opening of Wooldridge View is a significant step forward in our commitment to delivering extra care Communities that help people live well in later life. By working closely with our partners, we continue to create homes that provide the perfect balance of independence and support, helping people feel safe, secure, and part of a thriving Community.
