Places for People, the UK’s leading social enterprise, has appointed Andrew Usher as its new Group Managing Director for Developments. Andrew was previously PfP’s Group Development Director, a role he had held since joining from Countryside Partnership in May 2023.
In his new role, Andrew will lead the breadth of PfP’s Developments. PfP has the largest development pipeline in the social housing sector and is set to deliver some of the UK’s most exciting building projects, like the six-village, 8,500-home Gilston Park Estate and new homes in the transformational Camden Film Quarter while continuing to grow PfP’s pipeline.
Andrew joined PfP following over 18 years at Countryside Partnerships, where he most recently served as Managing Director for their South London region. Since then, he has played a key role in advancing PfP’s ambitious plans and will now be responsible for delivering across a range of major developments across the UK.
Scott Black, Group Chief Operating Officer at PfP, commented: “I’m delighted that Andrew has been appointed as our new Group Managing Director for Developments. He has made a significant contribution since joining us and now his expertise and commitment to excellence will continue to drive us forward to create more thriving Communities.
“PfP has a major role to play in tackling our national housebuilding crisis. We are a partner in waiting for our Government, we’re ready to work with them and anyone else to address the challenge we’re facing. And with Andrew at the helm, I know we can lead the charge”.
Andrew added “It is a huge privilege to be appointed to this role and I’m looking forward to getting started. I joined PfP because I wanted to work for an organisation that had a clear purpose to do more for our society, and where I could use my experience make a real difference.
“Given the breadth of our organisation, we see at first-hand the terrible impact the housing crisis is having across the UK. We are well placed to be a key part of the solution to this and I’m fired up to be leading a team of passionate professionals who know we have an important role to play. We have bold ambitions, and I am eager to build on the progress already made to deliver on our development vision and our company’s purpose”.
