Places for People Alan Wharton runner up at national NHBC Pride in the Job Award

Places for People’s, Alan Wharton has been recognised for his dedication to raising standards in housebuilding after coming runner up at the National Grand Final of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. 

In October, Alan beat off stiff competition to take home the prestigious title in the Medium Housebuilder Category for his work on our direct delivery site, Black Isle View in Inverness to join other regional winners at the Grand Final on 25th January 2025. 

Organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) the awards – now in their 44th year and widely considered the ‘Oscars’ of the house-building industry - set the benchmark for exceptional site managers. 

Judges assess people across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. 

Speaking on his award, Alan commented: “I’m delighted to be recognised on a national stage. If you told me when I was nominated for this award, I’d win the regionals and be runner up in the national grand final, I wouldn’t have believed you. The NHBC Awards are the pinnacle of a site manager’s career, and I’m thrilled to have been recognised. 

“However, I wouldn’t have achieved this without the hard work and dedication of the team who work tirelessly to create this thriving community up in Inverness.”

The ceremony was held on Friday 24 January 2025 at London Hilton on Park Lane, London, where the competition had over 8,000 entrants from across the UK.
