Places for People achieve Ofsted registration
18 September 2024
We’re excited to announce that we’ve successfully achieved Ofsted registration.
We currently have seven specialist accommodations across England, supporting young people aged 16 and 17 as they develop independent living skills in a safe, nurturing environment. Our goal is to help them build the confidence and abilities they need to manage and maintain a successful tenancy in the future.
Following changes to Government regulations last year, it was announced that all housing associations providing supported accommodation for young people must be Ofsted registered to continue delivering these services.
To meet these new requirements, our teams worked tirelessly to put together a comprehensive application, evidencing the high-quality support we provide. We ensured that all aspects of our Young Person services met the regulatory standards set by Ofsted and the Government.
After months of hard work and submitting our application in October 2023, we’re thrilled that the wait is over. We can now celebrate our successful Ofsted registration with all of you!
Tom Brown, Director of Places for People Living Plus, said:
"It was crucial for us to achieve this registration so we can continue delivering specialist supported services to young people, many of whom come from difficult circumstances and need a safe place to call home.
As this was the first time housing providers had to become Ofsted registered, we faced some challenges in understanding the requirements and gathering the necessary evidence. But overcoming these obstacles, and knowing we can continue supporting young people on their journey to independent living, has made it all worthwhile.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the collective effort of so many Colleagues from different teams and locations across England. From our Service Managers at Young Person services to our Regulations Team, the time and effort everyone has put in has been incredible, and I want to thank everyone involved in making this possible.
This registration is just one of many exciting developments within our Young Person services, including the construction of six new modular homes for single-parent families within our Salford service. We hope this registration will allow us to expand our support for young people and enhance our credibility in areas where it's most needed."
Now that we’ve achieved Ofsted registration, we’re developing frameworks to support our Colleagues to ensure we continue to evidence the great work we do in supporting young people.
