Landscape Masterplan

On Thursday 09 January 2025 East Herts District Council awarded formal planning permission for the Gilston area.

Responding to the announcement, Places for People's Chief Executive, Greg Reed said:

“We are delighted that East Herts District Council has issued formal planning permission for Places for People to deliver 8,500 new homes, amenities, and infrastructure across six villages within the Gilston Area.

“This landmark project will not only deliver much-needed homes, supporting the Government to meet its ambitious housebuilding targets, but it will also create new thriving communities that deliver profound health, economic, environmental, and social benefits to the area. New primary and secondary schools, health and wellbeing facilities, sustainable transport solutions and jobs will together contribute towards total £1bn of investment in new and improved local infrastructure.

“Today marks a significant milestone for this once-in-a-generation opportunity and shows our key role in ensuring that much-needed homes are delivered in East Herts. Following years of extensive conversations and collaboration with the local authorities and stakeholders, reaching this point reinforces our commitment to the Gilston Area project and our dedication to getting it right.”

*Another 1,500 homes will be provided by Taylor Wimpey in village 7.
