Making dreams come true at Maple Fields
20 February 2023
While single mum Joanna was searching for a home outside of London, she stumbled across our Maple Fields development near Whitehill & Bordon and – liking the look of this blossoming community – filled out an online enquiry form.
Unfortunately, all the plots had already been reserved, but Joanna’s disappointment soon turned into excitement as just a couple of days later she discovered that one of the homes was back on the market.
“I couldn’t believe it when Janice called me back to say a plot had suddenly become available,” admits Joanna. “The house was lovely – so spacious – and I loved the layout and the fact it had a garden.”
That Maple Fields is right next door to the Hogmoor Inclosure – a 54-hectare green space of woodland and heathland complete with walking, running and cycling trails along with a play and picnic area – was another key selling point.
“It was really important for me to be near to the countryside,” Joanna continues, “and to have plenty of outdoor spaces I could enjoy with my son, so I couldn’t wait to make Maple Fields our new home.”
Having focused her search on two-bedroom properties, Joanna was surprised to learn she could afford this brand-new three-bedroom home – which she was able to buy through the shared ownership scheme. Shared ownership works by allowing Customers to purchase a share of their home (between 10% and 75% of the market value) and pay rent on the remainder. This makes their deposit and mortgage repayments smaller and more affordable.
Joanna had also purchased her London home via shared ownership, so knew what to expect. Even so, there were still aspects of the scheme she was unsure of and she had concerns about the amount of paperwork involved too. Happily, Places for People was quick to put her mind at rest.
One thing that was especially important to Joanna was that their moving date wasn’t delayed.
She explains: “Because we were renting a home short-term while waiting for our new one to be ready, I was worried that if our completion date was put back we wouldn’t have anywhere to live. But Janice and the team were brilliant in making sure everything happened when it was supposed to, chasing the solicitors and keeping in constant contact to let me know what was going on. I honestly can’t thank them enough!”
Now that Joanna and her son have made the move to Maple Fields, they’re loving their brand-new home and enjoying everything this attractive new community and local area have to offer.
“The development itself is surrounded by trees,” observes Joanna, “so it feels like you’re living in the middle of a forest. And there’s so much for kids here – the Hogmoor Inclosure is a wonderful place, with woodland walks and a café, and there’s a brand-new sports centre nearby too.”
And while the abundance of open green space is fantastic, it’s clear that having their own private piece of the great outdoors is just as important.
With significant investment currently transforming Whitehill and Bordon into a prosperous and sustainable green town, together with a wide choice of shops, restaurants, leisure opportunities and local schools, Joanna is excited to see how the community develops.
For now though, she can’t speak highly enough of her positive home buying experience, “the lovely Janice” and shared ownership, without which she doubts whether she could have afforded a house with a garden. And with the plot cancellation, Lady Luck probably deserves a mention as well.
Some things are just meant to be…
