By car

From the east from Poole, stay on the A35 until you reach Monkeyjump Roundabout/A37 then take the third exit. From the west and Bridport, follow the A35 until you reach Monkeyjump Roundabout/A37 then take the second exit.

From the north and Yeovil, follow the A37 south until you reach Monkeyjump Roundabout/A35 then take the first exit.

By Bus

Dorset Council operates the main service, which is the regular Number 6 bus that runs from Dorchester to Poundbury every half hour.

A bus stop is located near the statue at Queen Mother Square, Poundbury.

There is an additional service – the X51 – by the operator First, which travels from Axminster to Dorchester via Poundbury, Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Chideock. Find out more here.

By Rail

There are two rail stations serving Dorchester. Dorchester South has frequent train services on the London (Waterloo) to Weymouth main line.

The other station, Dorchester West, is on the Bristol (Temple Meads) and Weymouth line.

Both stations are a 20-minute relatively level walk to Poundbury. There are regular buses outside Dorchester South to Poundbury. Find out more here.
