Getting online
Get Online Week: 16 - 22 October 2023
To help our Customers become more digitally confident, we are taking part in Get Online Week by hosting virtual sessions for people of all ages to attend.
You can learn about how to be safe online or stay active with our online fitness class. To find out more or interested in attending our sessions, please contact inclusion@placesforpeople.co.uk.
Having digital skills and being active online provides many opportunities and benefits, including:
- Staying in touch with friends and family via phone or social media.
- Accessing job, education, and training opportunities.
- Accessing online services eg. Banking, shopping, booking doctor appointments, and streaming shows/movies.
Our Digital and Employability Coordinator is here to support you in getting online, help you to access suitable training (including 1-to-1 help) as well as access to devices, broadband and data if needed.
The support we can provide

We Are Digital
Working in partnership with We Are Digital we can offer up to 6 hours of free 1-to-1 over the phone sessions with a specialist tutor to support you using your own digital devices.
Tech Buddies
If you would like ongoing 1-to-1 support, or a hand with basic digital skills, we have our very own Tech Buddies. These are volunteer staff members and Places for People Customers trained to help and support you with your day-to-day digital life.
Digital Access Points
If you require face-to-face digital training, we may be able to deliver support sessions in person at one of our digital access points. Please speak to a member of our team to find out if face-to-face sessions can be delivered in your local community.
Digital Kit and Data
If you need support accessing a device or data to get online, we may be able to help you access phones, tablets, and SIM cards to enable you to get on the internet and keep in touch with your friends, family, or support network.
