South Devon Rural (SDR) owns and manages 357 homes in the South-West of England, offering a uniquely personal and caring service to Customers.
Originally set up in 1958 to provide housing for staff retiring from work on The Dartington Hall Trust’s country estate, SDR has since evolved into a strong, Community-based organisation for South Devon. It has sound working links with the local Communities, South Hams District Council, Social Services and other statutory and voluntary agencies, and has earned an enviable reputation in South Devon for the quality of its housing and services.
SDR joined the Places for People Group in March 2024, to enable it to build upon the great work it has already done, providing affordable homes for Customers who might otherwise be priced out of living in the rural areas where they have built a life. We’re proud to be able to work together to create opportunities to deliver more new affordable homes in this part of the country.
