Retirement Living Panel

About the Group

Places for People is passionate about putting people first and at the heart of everything we do, involving our customers at every opportunity.

The Retirement Living Panel may have representation of customers from each of the landlords within Affordable Housing, these include:

  • Places for People 
  • Places for People Living Plus
  • Places for People Scotland

The role of the Retirement Living Panel is to assess the performance and delivery of key services, identifying areas for improvement and highlighting aspects of good practice within the retirement living area of Places for People.

The Retirement Living Panel will hold regular meetings, which will detail the panel's activities. At these meetings, the panel will discuss ways to improve the quality and appearance of services, homes, and gardens. How to help provide more opportunities to improve health and well-being for customers. Discuss how the homes and services provided meet the diverse needs of customers. This panel will aim to improve the customers understanding of safeguarding. The panel with also look at how the use of technology can make a difference in day to day life.

What you'll be doing

You will work with us to:

  • Monitor performance
  • Challenge weakness
  • Prioritise work on services that show low tenant satisfaction.
  • Offer recommendations for improvements and highlight areas of best practice.
  • Work alongside other customer local groups.
  • Share best practices and assist us in re-shaping and improving services for a better customer experience.
  • Recommend changes you’d like to see.
  • Hold us to account to ensure the changes are made.
  • Offer recommendations for improvements and highlight areas of best practice.
  • Work with staff to check that services meet customer and business priorities.
  • Monitor the improvements and keep customers informed.

Members quality and skills

The qualities of a Retirement Living Panel member include:

A commitment to customer involvement with a focus on outcomes and a desire to improve services in Affordable Housing.

  • A commitment to support our Customer Voice Strategy and Promise.
  • To have the ability to think strategically about Policies, Processes and Procedures across Affordable Housing.
  • Objectivity in the approach to reviewing and monitoring Policy, Process and Procedures.
  • Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion issues in the policy context
  • The ability to clearly communicate in a constructive, positive and helpful manner.
  • Working with others to achieve shared aims; to be a team player.
  • The ability to see beyond their own experiences.
  • A commitment to continuously learn and developing their skills and knowledge of social housing.

Training and support

All involved customers will be encouraged and supported to take advantage of the TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) training seminars, round table discussions and the wealth of information available to members.

We will also be able to provide support and advice from within the business if any training needs are identified.

Eligibility

All customers from across Affordable Housing are welcome to apply to be a member of the Local Customer Groups. 

Unfortunately, we cannot consider your application if:

  • we are taking legal action against you or you are in a legal dispute with Places for People or any of the subsidiary companies within the Group.

You are employed by Places for People or any of the subsidiary group companies.

Fees and Expenses

This role is a voluntary position, and you may be entitled to claim any reasonable out of pocket expenses related to your involvement activities in line with our Expenses Policy.

Membership

Membership will be reviewed on an annual basis.
