Careers FAQs

Applications

Can I apply to more than one position?

Yes. Differentiate your applications as each role will ask for different skill set.

Use the supporting statement to show how you are suitable.

I've submitted my application, when should I expect to to hear from you?

As soon as you have submitted your application you will get an acknowledgement email from us.

We will be in touch to arrange interviews or let you know you have been unsuccessful within a week of the closing date.

What should I do before submitting my online application?

Make sure that your CV and supporting statement highlights your skills in the best way.

Read the advert and job description and match the key skills we are looking for with what’s on your CV.

It won’t take long but make sure you have allowed yourself plenty of time to complete your details.

I am a non EU resident. Do I need a visa before I apply?

Places for People are not a sponsorship organisation. We are unable to progress your application if you don’t have right to work in the UK.

You can work for us if you have a Tier 1 or Tier 2 VISA that grants you the right to work in the UK.

How do I apply for a job?

We have tried to make this process as easy and quick as possible. All you need to do is complete some personal details, add a supporting statement and upload your CV.

You can create an account from a social media profile or use your email address.

If you are applying on your phone or tablet you will need to have your CV stored in the cloud.

Our system allows you to download from Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive.

Interviews

How should I prepare for interview?
Do I need to bring anything with me to the assessment centre or interview?

We will always include anything you need to bring with you on the invite. Please remember to bring your right to work documents for us to take a copy.

You can find a list of eligible documents on the GOV.UK website.

If there is a need for you to hold certain certificates for you to do the job, please bring these with you.

What do I wear to an assessment centre or interview?

Interviews are formal occasions so your choice of clothing should reflect this. We recommend business wear but above all, the clothes should make you feel confident and comfortable.

When will I hear from you after my interview?

The interview panel will always give you an estimation of when you should expect to hear from us. In most cases this will be within 3 days, this will either be through email or a phone call.
