Young Parents Pathway team wins national award

Young Parents Pathway

The Young Parents Pathway team from Living+ North East has won the award for the 'Most Effective Project in Improving the Lives of Women or Communities' at the national Women in Housing awards, beating off stiff competition from five other projects from across the UK.

The award recognises their work at the Whitehead Street Young Parents Pathway. The South Tyneside project provides furnished accommodation, alongside 24 hour support, aimed at helping young people aged 16-25 adjust to parenthood and provide the best start for their children.

Picking up the award at the Hilton hotel in Manchester, project leader, Angie Allen

"We're so pleased to have won this prestigious industry award. Our aim is to provide strong female role models, inspiration and empowerment to parents aged 16 to 25 in South Tyneside. We are committed to helping parents be the best they can for their children. We endeavour to improve the lives of parents themselves, support their role in the wider community, and most importantly help vulnerable children. We have a really dedicated team, who all work so hard, so it's great to be recognised in this way."
