Smoke alarm

You are at least four times more likely to die in a fire in your home if you have no working smoke alarm.

That's why it's important to check your smoke alarm is working at least once a month.

If you think your smoke alarm isn't working and you have tried replacing the batteries, contact the Customer Service Centre as soon as possible. We'll repair or replace your smoke alarm free of charge.
 

Keeping your home safe

There's lots you can do to reduce the risk of fire, including:

  • Don't leave cooking unattended
  • Make sure cigarettes are stubbed out properly, and don't smoke in bed
  • Check that heaters and other appliances aren't left switched on overnight
  • Don't overload plug sockets with lots of gadgets and appliances.
