Building Better Opportunities

Places for People is a delivery partner in  Age of Opportunity and the Invest in Youth projects in Lancashire which is part of the nationwide Building Better Opportunities scheme.

The scheme brings together funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.

Invest in Youth

The Invest in Youth project aims to transform the futures of young people aged between 15 and 24 who have issues in their lives that are getting in the way of them finding employment. It will focus on participants with mental or physical health difficulties, who are homeless, have disabilities or may be full-time carers.

Age of Opportunity

The Age of Opportunity project engages older people, aged 50 and above and with low or no skills, to support them in moving towards and into employment. The project is focused on the barriers to training, work and employment, and takes an integrated approach to addressing these barriers.
