Development category at the 2009 What House? Awards.

Housebuilding Innovation Award 2009
St Thomas' School, where a school has been rebuilt using
the proceeds of 69 apartments built above it, was named the
Best Partnership between a Developer and the Public Sector. The
regeneration of Walker Riverside in Newcastle was highly commended
in the Community Award category.

Green Flag Award
The Green Spaces for People regeneration of St
Paul`s Park in Bristol has been awarded a Green Flag Award. The
Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green
spaces in Englandand Wales, and compliments the Local Government
Street Design Award which was won by the park in 2008.

National Railway Heritage Awards
The Royal Train Shed, part of Wolverton Park won the
Modern Railway Restoration category at the National Railway
Heritage Awards 2009. The historic railway site near Milton Keynes
has been redeveloped by Places for People to provide 300 new homes
alongside shops, restaurants and bars.

Our Rivers' Gate development in Newcastle was a winner in the
‘Residential’ category.

Our housing management degree course for employees, run by De
Montfort University, won an Innovation Award in the ‘Best
training/staff initiative’ category.

Gold Award for Tackling Worklessness 2008
This award recognises the work we do to get people into jobs,
training and employment as well as supporting new and existing
businesses.

National Home Improvement Council Award
2008:
Our Wolverton Park development in Milton Keynes – a mixed-use
scheme involving the refurbishment of historic buildings – won the
award for ‘Best Brownfield or Recycled Building Project’.

Gold Award for Environmental Sustainability
2007:
This award recognises our commitment to creating and managing
communities that have a limited effect on the environment, are
energy efficient and which save residents money on their fuel
bills.

Scottish Design Award 2007:
Our Upper Strand mixed-tenure
development at Edinburgh’s waterfront won two of these prestigious
awards in the ‘Best Regeneration’ and ‘Best Residential project’
categories.

Black Housing Awards 2007:
Winning in the ‘Outstanding Community
Project for Young People’ category was our Akaba project in London.
The project provides support to help people with mental health
problems get back into work.

2007:
Our Gerald Court development in
Burnley was a winner in the ‘Unbuilt Social Housing’ category.

Recognised for innovation and good
practice in supporting black and minority ethnic people, our
Mellor’s Lodge scheme in Nottingham won a Spark Award.
